SILVERBIRD GALLERIA & TLDC in conjunction with BP VISION presents Absolutely Salsa® competition Nigeria. This year we are adding another twist to Absolutely Salsa® competition Nigeria every last Sunday of the month at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos. The Absolutely Salsa® competition will be developed into a reality show capturing the auditions, training and the competition itself into a 30 minutes miniseries for television every week. The youth will be recruited from universities, dance groups/studios and the general public. To make it open to a diversified audience, participants will audition either in salsa, hip-hop, traditional African dance or contemporary dance. Subsequently, each participant will be properly trained in salsa for the competition. The competition will create an opportunity for dancers grow and dance enthusiasts to socialize, as well as provide a live spectator event for the general public.
Auditioning for Absolutely Salsa® competition Nigeria
Audition Stage 1
This audition will take place every last Sunday of the month just before the Salsa® competition Nigeria. Competitors will be auditioning for the following month's Salsa® competition Nigeria. Dancers, who are dancing Hip hop, contemporary or traditional African dance; which are non couple dances can audition as individuals and dancers who will be dancing Latin or a couple dances MUST audition with their dance partners. Dancers will PROVIDE standard 1min music of their choice to audition with; all round dancers stand a better chance to be short listed. The short listing of dancers will be done by three dance experts {the top dance teachers in the Nigerian industry from the Dance Guild of Nigeria}; they are experts in the above dance genres.Audition Stage 2
All shortlisted dancers will be required to learn a 30seconds HIP HOP routine Choreography in 30 minutes (by a member of Guild of Nigerian Dancers "GOND) which they will be taught on stage. Dancers will be given 15mins to work on themselves; to master the 30seconds hip hop routine and own it - by putting their own style into it before they come out for the next stage audition. The next stage audition {Dancers will reproduce the 30seconds hip hop routine}. While dancing, our experts {top dance teachers in the Nigerian industry} go around and select the best dancers. At this point, only the selected best dancers will compete in the next month's Absolutely Salsa® competition.What to wear for Contemporary Routine
Ladies: should wear for the final stage (stage 2) of the audition; in any color apart from white and MUST be body fitted.- Tank tops
